Monster Mash 2017 is done and it was an amazing event!!!  Big thanks to all the parents and teachers who helped in so many ways to make this year’s event so successful.  There are two tents and a pumpkin in the front office to be picked up.  If you made those donations please find some time this week to swing by and grab your item.

The Final Countdown…

As we enter the final week of the 2016-2017 school year we would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped throughout the year.  From Monstermash to Bingo Night, Spirit Nights at area restaurants and Barnes & Noble, to Boosterthon and the upcoming 5th Grade picnic…nothing was completed by any one person alone.  Together we have had some awesome experiences this year and we look forward to a relaxing summer and future opportunities to make memories next year.  For now, we say goodbye and good luck to several PTO board members, and offer a warm welcome to some new ones.   A few reminders for this week are below:

  • 5th grade parents: Thank you for the abundance of food we received for the kid’s lunch tomorrow. Everything is peanut/tree nut free and there is a gluten free option as well. There will be 5th grade t-shirts for sale in limited quantities for those who were unable to purchase one earlier. It is first come, first serve at $12. Cash and checks will be accepted.  Good luck to all students “moving on”!
  • Tuesday, June 13th is the D.A.R.E. Day Field Trip
  • Our Music teacher, Mrs. Spangenburg, is teaching Ukelelle during the following sessions of the Stafford County Public Schools Summer Arts Camp (July 17-20 & July 24-27) for more information can be found: https://www.staffordschools.net/Page/21558
  • Wednesday, June 14th – Friday, June 16th are each half days. That means school’s out at 1:10 each day.  Please plan accordingly.

4 Day Week!!!

  • Rocky Run’s Garden Club is looking for donations as well as volunteers to help our sad little court yards. On Thursday May 25th @ 3:30 we will be looking for help to not only clean up the court yards, but to do some planting as well. Here is a list of needs to be donated; At least 8 big bags of garden soil; 6 big Top Soil bags; Annual seeds; Round Up; Box Wood (Small, enough for 4 plants); 3 Wood kits (6 inches high) *To make raise beds; Cord to tie debris; 5 feet stakes for trees (Wooden); 3 tomato plants; garden gloves

Welcome Spring!

The “snow storm” was a dud, but hopefully there was hot chocolate enjoyed and baby snowmen built for all.   This week brings the beginning of Spring and all the beautiful colors that come with it.  Below, you will find information that will help you stay up to date on some events happening at school over the next few weeks.  We hope to see you all soon:

Let It Snow!!!

Thank you all so much for supporting our school and the Rocky Run Elementary Fun Run. Our bulldogs have had a blast learning about how they can make a difference through Backyard Box Office.  A special thank you to all the parents and staff who volunteered their time and energy and helped to make the experience a fun one for all.  We hope you remembered to take the sticker off of the spirit wear t-shirts before washing them, and hope your child likes their new spirit wear!!!

It looks like we will be having an actual snow storm this winter after all.  If so, stay safe and have fun.  Below you will find information regarding upcoming events at school, we hope to see you soon:

  • Tonight, March 12th from 5-9 PM is spirit night at Chipotle on 17.  Our school receives 50% of the profits for all who show this chipotle flyer.  You can simply show your phone.  What a better way to not have to cook on this Spring Forward Sunday.

Fun Run Pep Rally!!!

Today our Rocky Run Fun Run kicked off with an exciting Pep Rally, and we are thrilled about this year’s program! The first step is to register your student on funrun.com, using our school’s registration code 713-868. You can also search for our school on funrun.com. This year, we are raising funds for to enhance our Bulldog Learning Experiences with things like technology, field trips, assemblies, and recess equipment.

Today, your student is coming home with a pledgebook, where you can learn more about helping our school through the Fun Run. We sincerely appreciate your support of Rocky Run Elementary!

You can access and view the flyers on the RRES website and create an account so that relevant flyers are e-mailed to you.

  • Thursday, February 23rd is the 5th Grade Folk Tale Performance. The Fifth Graders have been working during music class to tell folk tales using drama, sound effects, songs movement and art work.  They will perform for families on Thursday night.  Students should arrive at 6:45, performance will be at 7:00.  It will last about 30 minutes.
  • Monday, February 27th is RRES Spirit Night at Firehouse Subs from 4-8PM.
  • Tuesday, February 28th is an early release, students are dismissed at 1:10PM.
  • Tuesday, February 28th is our Boosterthon kick-off Pep Rally. Thursday, March 9th is the FUN RUN.  Keep an eye out on Facebook and here on our website for more information.  We hope to make this year’s Boosterthon the best one yet.
  • Box Tops sent in this month will be the LAST ONES that count toward our goal for this year. We have a long way to go to meet our goal.  PLEASE, if you were holding onto Box Tops to send in and make a big difference, this month is the time!  (We will continue to collect Box Tops the rest of the year, after this month however, they will count towards next year’s goal).

Spirit Night at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak burgers TOMORROW!!! :)

As we prepare for the week ahead, we hope you all had a fantastic weekend.  Below is a list of upcoming events and activities:

  • Monday, January 23rd is RRES Spirit Night at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak burgers from 5:00-8:00PM.  **Please remember to tell them you are there for Rocky Run Elementary School when ordering so that we receive credit***
  • Thursday, January 26that 7:00 is a Community Input Work Session on High School Redistricting at Colonial Forge High School.
  • Monday, January 30th there is an early release Elementary Schools get out at 1:10 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 31st is a Professional Day – No School
  • The Library at RRES will be hosting a Book Fair February 1st through 8th. Wednesday, February 1st is Family Night, volunteers are always welcome at these events.
